Winter Skin Regimen

It's gotten surprisingly chilly here in Seattle! Last night it was in the 20's, and windy downtown since it's near the water. This has quickly turned my skin into a dry, flaky mess! Guess it's time to bring out my favorite products for the winter weather.

First thing in the morning, I cleanse may face with Korres White Tea Facial Fluid Gel Cleanser, using my Clarisonic. This leaves my skin clean without over drying it. I discovered this cleanser a few years a go and will never go back to using anything else! In combination with my Clarisonic it works perfectly!

Next I lightly apply Benefit's Eyecon under my eye and up onto my eyelid. This brightens my skin ( I tend to have a little bit of dark skin around my eye) and is very nourishing. To moisturise my face in the winter I use Korres Thyme Honey 24-hour moisturizing cream.
It works wonders to keep my face flake free. Occasionally when I'm outside in the cold alot I apply Fresh's Soy Face Cream to any dry spots that reappeared. I carry this in my purse so that I will always have it in a pinch. I put it directly over my mineral foundation and it blends well while quickly making the flaky spots unnoticeable.

After I apply Thyme Honey Cream, I let it settle in before applying my mineral foundation. SminkSmink is still in the testing and formulation stages of our foundation ( I don't want to put anything out there that's not perfect yet!) So I'm still using my Aromaleigh's Glissade in 3N which is a wonderful product. I set my foundation with Jurlique's Rosewater Balancing Mist. It gives a little extra moisture where needed, and takes away any that is too much. It also helps my foundation stay on all day!

Introducing.......

Pressed Mineral Foiling Eyeshadows!

Foiling is one of my favorite ways to apply eyeshadow, I created this eyeshadow specifically for foiling. I find that foiling brings out the intensity of the shimmer in these colors. If you search for foiling techniques on you tube, you will see that people suggest using several different ingredients to foil you eyeshadow with. I wanted these shadows to be as simple and easy to apply as possible so all you need is water! After they have dried they are still very blendable. I love the adorable jewel colored boxes I found, they are perfect for travel.

First up is "Michelle", a shimmery pink with hints of peach and gold. I like to wear this one alone when I'm in quick hurry.

Welcome to Sminked!

This is my inaugural post!

Let's start with a little color inspiration..... When i first decided to create my SminkSmink cosmetics line I had only one goal in mind, Unique colors that make any ensemble fashionable and up to date. I also wanted SminkSmink to complement my Housewares, Art and Jewelry that I sell under the name Bakasartysta. My signature coasters and jewelry are oftern an explosion of color and a patterns that add a special pop to any out fit or decor. The nail colors are an expression of that, Whether it's a subdued white with little sparks of yellow and gold ( Onari Special Edition) that are super bold on your fingers or an all over bold color like Finlay (Special Edition).

This dress by Basso and Brooke encapsulates all those ideas...I first came across Basso and Brooke when researching the fabulous shoe designer Julia Lundsten, I've been coveting her shoes for awhile now and Basso and Brooke featured her in thier Spring 2010 collection.
